When Sue McKerracher was pitching the idea of the National Year of Reading (NYR) to Peter Garrett MP in 2009 she could not have predicted the project would be embraced by so many people across the country. Four years and four thousand events later we say good bye to the National Year of Reading 2012 but are we ready to farewell the Love2Read flower?
Syba's Mollie Bain spoke with Robyn Ellard, Project Director for the National Year of Reading about what is next for the project:
'The National Year of Reading Founding Partners have agreed to continue the successful campaign through Love2Read - a media campaign in 2013 pulling together and promoting all the fantastic work literacy and reading agencies are doing. We will maintain the website at www.love2read.org.au, our Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as organising a few national programs including The Reading Hour on the 24 August 2013'
So there you have it, Love2Read lives on! The Love2Read team will be announcing their program publicly on February 14, follow Syba News to stay up to date.
In the meantime, remove the 'National Year of Reading 2012' section of the logo and keep the flower.
The Syba Team.
